crying with joy

My wish for 2011
that we all allow our true voice to be heard in harmony with all
and follow the great Conductor
I’d like to thank an earlier mentor of mine, Rue Hass, for sending me this. This is what she wrote to me (with her consent:)
Dear Nina,
Here is what I wish for you, and for all of us, and for
the whole world, as 2011 flows forward from today:
Not to sing in this choir (though that would be way cool!),
but for each of us to play our own part so beautifully, with
such exquisite mistakes and learnings, that we see and
recognize our beauty, and that we own and stand in
the perfect harmony that we are creating…together.
In every moment. Now!
Listening to this brought me to tears, for the beauty of it,
and for the metaphor of the Spirit of Humanity
that it sings through it.
Eric Whitacre’s Virtual Choir: Lux Aurumque
185 voices. 243 tracks. 12 countries.
A choir unlike any other.
What started as a simple social media experiment,
has become a poetic metaphor of our shared humanity
and the power of connection.
Acclaimed composer and conductor Eric Whitacre
offered the sheet music of his original composition,
“Lux Aurumque”, as a free download and invited singers
to submit a video of themselves performing one part
(soprano, alto, tenor, or bass).
These rather ordinary videos of solo performances
were then pieced together to form a choir of singers
who have never met each other…but have unwittingly
created music in perfect harmony together.
